the box tt contained everything was so big & bulky as compared to the others...zZz..it's like a small luggage! pple tot i'm lugging a monitor or smth haha...
& becos of the immense weight & dreadful hunger pangs, i went 2 call si xiang only 2 find out he's already at home...zZZz..
"next time u mus book me" tt's wad he said.
soO jian wei & i toOk turns 2 carry it..thanks girl!
south asian tut today was nuttin much..haha
had philo nuts and bolts at 9am today & he was telling his secrets of setting exam papers..
then there was the actual philo lect at 2pm where the commotion is abt "what is virtue? can virtue be learnt? is learning also recollection?"
then socrates tied virtues with geometry lOlx...bizarre.
becos math is a form of recollection..in a sense socrates could prove tt a slave boy who didn't know math could discover how 2 do math thru the process of questioning him & allowing him 2 grasp certain ideas & deduce a math question..
soO learning hence = a form of recollection in socrates's perception.
then again, can this be applied to all areas of life? Because math is a 1 answer only, there is no such thing as another answer & by leading a person the right way, he could come to a conclusion where he comes to the correct answer.
on the other hand, intangible things like virtues; can it be learnt so easily? Is there only a set of right answers for virtues?
here's smth ridiculous & confusing with regards to learning by Meno, the guy Socrates questioned the meaning of virtue:
P1: With regard to everything, either you know it already or you don't.
P2: If u noe it already, then u carn learn it (since u carn learn wad u already noe!)
P3: if u dunno it already, in which case u won't b able 2 find it(ie: learn it) becos u won't b able 2 recognise it when u see it!
Hence, learning is impossible.
LOLX..
here's another theory:
Actually, the mind doesn't bother abt reasoning! If u give someone an idea, it is nt necessary 2 convince him the truth of it if u keep conflicting ideas tt are arising from his mind. The mind can actually believe wad is being told but becos of the power of suggestion, pple tend to question!
